Cell Break
The tube went in and
The blood came out
Looking for all the world
Like a California Cab,
Jammy and rich and
Delighted to be uncorked,
Free flowing at last past
The dam of vessel that
Had held it in for however
Long it had been making
The round of arteries and
Veins, toe to brain and
Back again and so clearly
Willing to be out of that
Bound I was relieved
When the lady moved
The bloody vials out of
Sight lest the inmates
Left behind take heart
From their fellows’ escape
And seek to fling wide
Their prison doors in a
Cellular break, emptying
The jail as the jailer deflates.
